Jackson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Florida. Its county seat is Marianna. Jackson County was created in 1822 and was named for Andrew Jackson,general in the War of 1812, first territorial governor of Florida, and seventh President of the US, who served from 1829 to 1837. Jackson County has a total area of approximately 955 square miles of which 96% is land and 4% water. As of the 2000 census, there were 46,755 people, 16,620 households, and 11,600 families residing in Jackson County, FL.
